OUR STORY
Reno Tahoe Rescue Society was founded in December 2012 with a vision to make a difference in the lives of unwanted pets in Northern Nevada and the surrounding areas. Since its start, Reno Tahoe Rescue Society has changed the lives of over 300 dogs, cats, and exotic animals.
Our rescue cocentrates on primarily saving dogs from shelters, puppy mills, and hoarding situations. As such, our goal is to educate the community on spay and neuter programs. As well as the benefits of these life saving surgeries and preventative measures. We also advocate proper care and training to ensure our rescues do not end up in another situation where they are homeless.
The ONLY way to keep animals out of shelters and avoid euthanasia is through education.
At Reno Tahoe Rescue Society we are committed to matching animals with potential new families to the best of our ability. This makes our adoption process different compared to other shelters and rescues in the area. The process can be lengthy, but it is thorough. We are here first and foremost for the animals. Every animal that comes into our rescue has already been failed by people at least once in their lives. We try our hardest to prevent this from happening again through our application and home check process. We understand that this is not a guarantee. Please understand that we have committed ourselves toward the wellbeing of these animals that depend on us to be their advocate. Show us that you value what we do by being patient and understanding through this process.
